School Closure Information

Dear Rio Vista Families,

Thank you for your patience over the past few weeks as we have transitioned to online learning platforms (google classroom, seesaw or class dojo). By now, you should have connected with your child's teacher and have received instructions on how to access online learning.  As a reminder,  Rio Vista's physical campus remains closed at this time. If you need assistance, please reach out to me or your child's teacher.

Starting on Friday, April 3 to Friday April 10, all Mt. Diablo Unified schools will be on spring break. While students will still be able to see any previously posted materials on the learning platforms (google classroom, class dojo, seesaw, etc.) teachers will be off for spring break and will not be posting any new materials over spring break. Additionally, teachers will not be responding to any communication until we return on Monday April 13.

As a reminder, free breakfast and lunch is available Monday-Friday at Riverview from 11:00-12:30 for all children under the age of 18. Food service will not be open on Friday 4/3 but will resume on 4/6.

I wish you and your family a restful spring break. Please stay healthy and safe!

Elizabeth Lanfranki Law, Principal

We are all doing our best to navigate this difficult time in our history, and we understand that may look different for each family. With that in mind, we will be providing some basic recommendations for all families to follow with regard to continuing student learning during the school closure. Teachers have developed lesson activities to support students. Lessons can be found here.

During this time, students will not be graded on any of the material provided, and students will not be held accountable for any of the content upon their return to school. Teachers are available to support you every day from March 16-April 3. To contact your teacher, please email them.

General recommendations:

  1. Try to establish a daily routine. This will provide children with a sense of safety and security in an otherwise unsettling situation, and help them transition back to school when the time comes.

  2. Limit screen time to 1.5 hours (this includes online learning tools, video games, etc.), and limit sessions to 30 minutes.

  3. Review basic academic skills (addition, multiplication, fluency)

  4. Have fun with your family!

  5. Wash your hands a lot, and practice ‘social distancing’!

We are here to support you during this uncertain time; please reach out to a staff member if we can be of assistance. Finally, lunch will be served Monday-Friday at Riverview from 11:00- 12:30 starting Wednesday March 18.
