Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Rio Vista Elementary!  Rio Vista Elementary is fully dedicated to provide an environment conducive to learning in which students thrive and develop as global citizens. We believe each child can and will learn given equitable access to the content. 

We strive to strengthen our family and school partnerships so that we can collaborate on providing the best educational opportunities for our children. We invite you to participate in our school functions, become a volunteer inside and outside the classroom, and maintain open lines of communication.  

Rio Vista staff is committed to foster a climate in which all students feel safe, responsible and respectful.

SPEAKER SERIES

SPEAKER SERIES- VAPING PREVENTION ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11TH AT 6PM AT COLLEGE PARK HIGH SCHOOL:  Mt. Diablo Unified’s next Speaker Series is Wednesday, December 11th at College Park High School’s Multi Use Room (201 Viking Dr, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523) starting at 6pm.  Derrick Kirk, TUPE Youth Development Specialist, will discuss up-to-date information on e-cigarette/vape pen products, adolescent use rates, impact on young people, tobacco-free schools policy, prevention strategies, how to support current users, and resources available for young people, schools, parents, and families.   We look forward to seeing you for this very informative evening.   Please see the flyer HERE.

INtra district transfer 

Elementary Intradistrict Transfers 2020-2021:

All Elementary Intradistrict Transfer applications will be available at the same time. Therefore, the online application for Intradistrict transfers (new TK/K and current K-4) will now be available at mdusd.org/transfers February 10, 2020 – March 10, 2020.  For more information please visit mdusd.org/transfers.

Visitor/Volunteer Procedures: 

We encourage parent involvement at Rio Vista.   

Visitor's must sign in at the office. A visitor’s pass will be issued. Visitors need to return to the office to sign out.

ALL volunteers/visitors must be cleared through the district. District requires current fingerprinting and updated TB test be on file prior to your work on campus.  If you would like to assist in the classroom or attend a field trip, please: 

     *Complete the forms provided in the links below 

     *Make your TB appointments, and get proof of negative result

     *Contact the district to schedule a fingerprinting appointment.

Upcoming Dates

TRAFFIC NOTICE!!!

  • The Rio Vista parking lot is closed to all incoming and outgoing traffic from 7:50am to 8:15am, and from 2:15pm to 2:45pm.​
  • U-turns, double parking, jay-walking or motioning children to jay-walk creates extremely dangerous hazards for our students.
  • The Contra Costa Sheriff's Depatment will issue moving and parking violations to unsafe motorists.
  • Please ALWAYS use the crosswalk when dropping off and picking up your child.
  • Students may not be dropped of at school before 7:30.  There is no supervision until this time.
